Stop Needling Me

Since I did all that sewing for the holidays I haven't touched my sewing machine-until yesterday. I was all ready to finish up stuff and start some new projects but nooooo-my machine decides to be all wonky.Maybe it's mad because it's been neglected for months but it was working fine the last time I used it. Now it makes a weird noise, the tension is all off and it just won't work right. Needless to say, I was frustrated and did no sewing. I have to check how much it costs to take it to the repair place then I'll decide if it should be fixed or look for a new one. I hate to really invest too much in this one as it was pretty cheap to begin with. Phooey I say because I'm saving my pennies. But that's something for another day.

I have been doing some sewing though. I find hand stitching very relaxing so I made this mini mini quilt. It measures about 5"x6" and is made from scraps I had around.
...and a few more journal pages. I only have 2 pages left in this book. I'm not sure what one I'll use next but it will probably be a smaller one.

So, what's new?

Feels like a long time since I've been here. What have you been up to? I had that tooth pulled Saturday and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I still can't really chew on that side but it doesn't hurt anymore. Next step is to have a bite plate made. I clench my teeth when I am anxious or in physical pain and apparently have moved my teeth out of alignment by doing so. Gotta do what I gotta do.

Here are some of my journal pages in various stages of completion. I like to see peoples pages in various stages and see their process at work. If I remember I want to take photos of a page from start to finish. Kind of a before and after.

My baby's back!

My baby girl is home safe and sound. I slept better last night than I have all week. She is filled with stories and excitement and photos and everything else a 16 year old is full of after a week away. What does she want? To sleep in her own bed and have some home cooked food. I'm gonna let her sleep all day and cook chicken for dinner. So happy she is home. It's so hard to let go.

I am up early as I am on my way to have a tooth pulled. Yuck!!! It was supposed to be done on Tuesday but my dentist was stuck in Italy because of the volcano so today is the day.

I'm feeling better today. She really is having a great time and is being well supervised. It's just so hard letting go.

My baby girl is still away and having fun but it has been anything but for me. I have spent most of my time since Sunday either lying down or eating-both coping mechanisms for me. I could go on and on but who wants to hear all that shit. Even I am sick of it. So here are a couple of journal pages.

Raining...again

Another rainy day here. This time of year when it rains it's cold old and my entire body aches-yuck! Gray rainy days also make me very lazy. Maybe I am solar powered! I have plenty to do but nothing I feel like doing. I have been working in my journal and I did put the mint green paper lace in the shop.

I'm also feeling a bit anxious becasue the divine Miss H is leaving Sunday for Washington,DC with a school group. This is the first time she will have gone away without a relative and it makes me so nervous.I know she will be safe and well supervised. I think it is harder because she is my only child and this is just another sign of how grown up she is getting.If I chewed my fingernails I would have none left. If you have children how did you deal with them growing up and becoming more independent?

Did you ever ask yourself why?

Something I have been thinking about lately.
Do you ever wonder about how you got from the person you were as a child to the adult you are now? What shaped your life,what made you you. I know its a combination of things but I really am working on dealing with one specific thing in my life, a turning point of sorts. I need to reconcile that things are what they are.

Well so much for my rambling. Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to enter my giveaway. I have been getting stuff together and stuffing envelopes. I am so excited!

Another journal page. I didn't like it after I started it so it sat around for awhile. Still not my fave but it's ok. It was fun to cover the whole page in tape. I am in the midst of a tape fit right now,putting it on everything,every bit of mail that leaves this house has tape whether it needs it or not! If I have developed a tape problem I blame the amazing Kelly Kilmer. She even teaches a tape class!Sometimes I like using song lyrics in my journal. There are times when they seem to express what I am thinking or feeling or questions to ponder. Do you ever use lyrics as part of a page? Or do you have any song lyrics that mean something to you? Just wondering what goes on in other people's heads :)

Spring cleaning

I have been finishing up cleaning the studio and have one bin left to go through. I've also been trying to sort and organize all the things I've decided to keep. What a pain!

Easter Recap

Feeling liberated

Speaking my piece and posting real, honest journal pages has been a freeing experience for me. I am working on being who I really am inside and not hiding anymore. This week I took another step on that journey.
